Alright, so this Sunday we went to Ocean Shores with Larry's family. We had fun just hanging out on the beach and sleeeeeeeping. LOL Kelly ran around for a bit-she LOVES to get out. Then, Tuesday night was Larry's birthday. Larry's sis and I had been planning a surprise party for weeks! So I took him out to dinner at one of his favorite restaurants here called Sakura's. It's this Japanese place where they cook the food right there in front of you! It's GREAT! Anyway, he had NO CLUE. When he walked in and saw everyone...it was so great! I was so proud of us for pulling it off!
On Thursday, Larry had his 3rd major surgery on his hand. When we went in, I was wondering what they were going to do to stabalize his fingers. For anyone that doesn't know, Larry's hand is his biggest (but not the only) issue. The shrapnel that went through his hand took out his knuckles where the finger bends at the hand. On his index finger, there are 2 screws to hold the bone together. In his middle finger, there is no knuckle left-so after and unsuccessful try to get it to fuse on it's own, they went back in to do a bone graft and put 2 pins and some wire to hold it in place. Well, his ring finger and pinky cause a lot of pain. While they fused somewhat, the movement that he had in them was still very painful. So after almost 2 years of therapy with no improvement, Larry decided to have these pinned too. They ended up having to do another bone graft for his ring finger and used 2 pins and wire in both his ring finger and pinky to hold them in place. He's still in a lot of pain, but hopefully, after he heals from the surgery, this will give him some relief from the pain.
Just thought I would give an update and share some pics.
